Countryside Elementary students continue to inspire! When author Celesta Rimington visited, she not only shared her writing journey but also joined the Battle of the Books team for lunch. Their lively conversation about stories, imagination and favorite reads left a lasting impression. Two years later, Rimington included Countryside students in her book, a powerful reminder of how literacy programs, librarians and a love of reading shape students for years to come. Welcome Back to School. Illustrations of banners, confetti and backpacks filled with school supplies.

Loudoun County Public Schools celebrated a milestone as Briar Woods and Tuscarora High Schools hosted a White Coat Ceremony on August 18, marking the second year of the Health and Medical Sciences (HAMSci) Academy!

The event recognized students beginning their four-year journey in health and medical sciences, a program that builds health literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while preparing students for future study and careers in healthcare.

A special thank-you to our partners, the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, the Loudoun Education Foundation, Inova Health System, and Google, for supporting this important program.

Reminder About Parent/Guardian Opt-In for Third-Party Educational Tools and Services

As part of our efforts to provide an engaging learning experience, LCPS uses a range of digital tools and services to support instruction and enhance student learning. Beginning this 2025-2026 school year, LCPS is now required by Google to ask parents to consent, or “opt-in,” for their students to be able to access third-party applications not designed explicitly for K-12 use, which are commonly used in instruction, like YouTube, Google Maps, and Google Translate.

LCPS already limits access to applications that are not required or recommended for learning to the greatest extent possible on LCPS-issued devices and student permissions vary according to their elementary, middle or high school level.

When you complete the Online Verification process for your student(s), you will see a box to opt your student in for these third-party applications for their use in learning. If you have questions, please read the posted Frequently Asked Questions or visit the list of LCPS-approved software.
