Do you speak, read or write in a language other than English? You could earn the Virginia Department of Education’s Seal of Biliteracy and up to three high school credits!

Loudoun County Public Schools offers the Credit Through Testing (CTT) exam, a free opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to earn official high school credit for their language skills. Whether you learned a language at home or through your life experiences, this exam recognizes your proficiency in more than 100 different languages.

Why take the CTT?

• Qualify for the Virginia Seal of Biliteracy: High scores can qualify you for the Virginia Department of Education Seal of Biliteracy, a prestigious honor for your college and job applications and a designated, high-demand industry workforce credential.

• Earn credit: The assessment can help personalize course pathways while continuing to build world language skills at higher levels.

• It’s Free: This is a zero-cost way to fast-track your path toward advanced diploma graduation requirements.

Fall 2026 Testing Details

Six testing dates are available this spring at six LCPS high schools. Check-in is from 5 – 6 p.m. and students have up to two hours to complete the assessment.

• Registration Window: September 1 - 30, 2026 

• How Students can Register: Register today through the Student Opportunities portal in LCPS GO. Space is limited! Once you sign up, a confirmation ticket will be sent to both your student email and your parent/guardian’s email.

Important Guidelines The CTT is offered twice a year (fall and spring). You may take the assessment once per academic year and no more than twice total during your four years of high school.
