Credit Through Testing
Credit Through Testing Overview
Credit Through Testing (CTT) is an opportunity offered by Loudoun County Public Schools for students in grades 9-12 who are proficient in a language other than English to earn up to three high school world language credit and/or the VDOE Seal of Biliteracy. This exam is now available in over 100 languages. It is important to note that credits cannot be duplicated on a transcript, nor can a proficiency test replace a previously earned grade.
The CTT exam is designed for students who have strong strong listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills in a language they have learned at home or through life experience, rather than in a formal classroom setting. While students who learn a language at school may take the CTT exam for the Seal of Biliteracy, it is only recommended for students who are currently in their fifth or sixth year of language study as VDOE requires at least an intermediate-mid proficiency level to earn the Seal of Biliteracy.
Credit Through Testing is now offered twice each year, in the fall and the spring. Students may only take the assessment ONCE in an academic year and TWICE total (regardless of language) over their 4 years of high school.
Students may register for the CTT through the Student Opportunities portal in LCPS GO. A confirmation ticket will be sent to the student and the parent/ guardian email on file.
