Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of its music programs. Ten LCPS schools have been named Blue Ribbon Schools by the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA), and ten high school bands have earned the title of Honor Band from the Virginia Band and Orchestra Association (VBODA) for the 2024–25 school year.

To earn the Blue Ribbon School distinction, schools must receive superior ratings in all three performing ensembles—band, chorus and orchestra. This recognition represents the highest level of music achievement for schools in the state.

In addition, the VBODA Honor Band title is awarded to high school bands that receive a superior rating in both marching band assessment and concert band assessment during the academic year.

These awards reflect the dedication, talent and hard work of LCPS student musicians, as well as the exceptional instruction and leadership provided by their music educators.

Participation in music programs has a powerful, research-backed impact on student success (USC Today). Music education is linked to stronger academic performance, enhanced critical thinking and improved social and emotional development. It fosters creativity, collaboration and confidence—skills that benefit students in school and beyond.

Congratulations to all the qualifying schools and their music departments! A full list of recognized schools is available on the LCPS Music website.
