A large group of students poses in a school hallway between oversized orange letters “B” and “W.” Several students hold orange foam fingers and make a number-one gesture. A black-and-yellow bird mascot lies in front of the group on the floor. A digital display board and school posters are visible on the wall in the background.

Nearly 78,000 students and 13,500 staff at Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) celebrated the third annual One LCPS Celebration Day Thursday, October 15. LCPS Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence created the event to recognize everyone who makes LCPS such a special place – students, staff, families and the communities they serve.

“We are 100 schools, nearly 78,000 students, thousands of dedicated employees, and countless families and community partners. We may each have a different role, but we are united by a shared commitment to our students and to helping every one of them belong, and be able to reach their full potential.” said Dr. Aaron Spence, LCPS Superintendent. “That’s what it means to be One LCPS.”

Dr. Spence, along with division leadership and senior staff, visited schools to take photos, express thanks and say congratulations. Schools were provided with fun photo gear, including foam fingers and stickers. Students and staff also competed in a photo contest for various awards. Winners will be announced the first full week of November.
