September is Recovery Month and an important occasion for raising awareness and supporting recovery for individuals affected by substance use disorders. During this month, we recognize that recovery from substance use disorders is possible and achievable. LCPS is committed to helping students on their healing journey through awareness campaigns and individualized support. 

• The R.I.S.E. Academy, which opened last school year, is a powerful example of LCPS’ commitment to supporting students in recovery. In this supportive space, students in recovery can pursue their high school diplomas while receiving the care and encouragement they need to thrive. 

• Each LCPS middle and high school has Student Assistance Specialists who provide prevention, intervention and education services that strengthen students’ social, emotional, and academic well‑being. 

• The Loudoun Recovery Fest, on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Douglass Community Center (407 E. Market St., Leesburg), is a free, family‑friendly event that celebrates recovery from addiction and offers a full day of connection, hope and community.
