Community members participated virtually and in person to provide the School Board with comments on a range of topics.
Action Items
The Board addressed four action items:
The School Board passed several proclamations.
The School Board voted to align the FY27 Adopted Budget with the state’s final FY26-28 biennium budget, recognizing an additional $14,000,000 (fourteen million dollars) of state revenue in the School Operating Fund and a corresponding $14,000,000 (fourteen million dollars) of expenses as outlined in the staff plan as amended. Further, the School Board requested the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors appropriate and increase the FY27 School Operating Fund, recognizing the additional $14,000,000 (fourteen million dollars) of state revenue and associated expenses.
The School Board approved the proposed changes to Policy 2420, Meeting Procedures.
The School Board adopted new Policy 5340, Safe and Supportive Removal of Students in the Educational Setting, as amended.
Information Items
The Board addressed several information items, including:
Approving an FY26 supplemental increase to the Workers’ Compensation Fund by $1.8 million, to be funded by transfers from the School Operating Fund to maintain two months of claims reserve.
Approving the proposed budget development calendar for the FY28 Annual Budget.
Revisions to Policy 8155, Out-of-Zone School Transfers.
