Students from Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) were recognized at the National Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference in Washington, D.C., June 22–26. A talented delegation of twenty Belmont Ridge Middle School students competed against more than 5,000 participants from across the United States and global teams hailing from as far away as Turkey, Germany, and American Samoa.

TSA is a national organization devoted to students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Belmont Ridge Middle School chapter fosters leadership, critical thinking, and technical skills, preparing the next generation of innovators for global success.

The Belmont Ridge Riverhawks showcased their STEM expertise by competing in 14 rigorous events, ranging from Biotechnology to Solar Car, and brought home three prestigious national trophies.

In addition to the students’ performances, Belmont Ridge TSA Advisor Michael Goddard was honored as the National Advisor of the Year. Since joining Belmont Ridge Middle School three years ago and founding the school's TSA chapter, Michael has cultivated a powerhouse program. Under his leadership, the chapter secured two National Champions in 2025, and this year’s three podium finishes bring the school's national trophy count to six in just a few short years.

"I am incredibly proud of what these students have accomplished on a truly global stage," said Michael Goddard, TSA Advisor. "Their dedication and passion for STEM are what make this program so special. However, a program like this doesn't succeed in a vacuum. I couldn't do any of this without the support of our Principal, Katie Johnson, and our incredible PTO, who ensure our students have the resources they need to thrive."
