On June 23, Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), in partnership with the Loudoun First Responders Foundation, the Loudoun Education Foundation, and the School Business Partnership Executive Council, hosted the annual First Responders Appreciation Cookout to recognize and honor the contributions of first responders throughout the community.
The event was held at Heritage High School and brought together first responders from across Loudoun County, including personnel from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Leesburg, Middleburg, and Purcellville Police Departments, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue, and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Approximately 225 officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and support staff attended the event, which provided an opportunity to express appreciation for their service and foster connections among community partners.
LCPS employees and community volunteers, including representatives from Apple Federal Credit Union and Heritage High School, prepared and served approximately 628 hamburgers and hot dogs during the event. Additional food and dessert donations were generously provided by Monk’s Barbeque, Larks Catering and Wegmans. The Heritage High School administrative team also contributed significantly by managing food preparation and service throughout the day despite challenging weather conditions.
Beyond providing a meal, the First Responders Appreciation Cookout served as a meaningful demonstration of community support and gratitude for the individuals who play a critical role in maintaining public safety. The event highlighted the importance of collaborative partnerships among schools, businesses, and public safety organizations in supporting students, families, and community members. Through their continued dedication, courage, and commitment to service, first responders make a lasting and positive impact on the Loudoun County community.
