The Loudoun County School Board held a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the School Board Meeting Room at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.

Work Session
Staff updated the School Board on the status of existing FY2027-FY2032 projects, reviewed priorities and shared input from the capital budget survey in preparation for the development of the FY2028-FY2033 Capital Budget this fall.
The Department of Teaching and Learning provided an update on Professional Learning for the 2026-2027 school year and outlined supports in place for the plan’s implementation.
The School Board then entered into a Closed session.

The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem were performed by the Woodgrove High School and Harmony Middle School Guitar Ensembles.
School Board and Administrative Advisory Committee Update
The Gifted Education Advisory Committee provided an update on initiatives and achievements since the last report on January 13, 2026.
Recognitions
The Watson Mountain Middle School community showcased student-led projects like Trout in the Classroom, Hydroponic and Community Gardens, "Scrape the Grape," and campus Food Waste Audits. These projects do more than teach science; they empower students to analyze real-time data, collaborate with their community and actively engineer an inclusive, greener future where everyone belongs.

Green Teams Gallery Walk showcased sustainability projects around the division.
LCPS CAMPUS celebrated 186 Seniors.

The Board addressed five action items:
The School Board voted to approve a resolution requesting funding for CIP school purposes.
The School Board approved the proposed changes to Policy 2350, Appeal of Administrative Decisions, as amended.
The School Board approved proposed changes to Policy 3040, School Building Administration, as amended.
The School Board approved Policy 8265, Student Searches Involving Students and Seizure of Contraband.
The School Board approved Policy 8270, Student Dress Code, as amended.

The School Board discussed the 2026-2027 Consolidated Grant Application for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).
The School Board discussed a budget realignment in the School Operating Fund and supplemental budget increases for the Workers’ Compensation Fund, Virginia Local Disability Program Fund, and Health Self-Insurance Fund.
The School Board discussed proposed revisions to Policy 4310, Purchasing Authority.
