The Minority Student Achievement Advisory Committee (MSAAC) held its annual EquiTea and Awards Celebration on Saturday, May 9, at the Historic Frederick Douglass High School.

The event honored LCPS students and staff whose leadership strengthened equity and inclusion across the school system. Superintendent Aaron Spence commended the event participants for elevating student voice, for encouraging meaningful conversations, and helping continue building environments where students feel a true sense of belonging. The Student Spotlight featured two student leaders, Jaxon Roberts, an eighth-grader from J. Lupton Simpson Middle School, and Gavin Davis, an eleventh-grader from John Champe High School, who emphasized the importance of elevating diverse voices to create welcoming school communities.

The highlight of the afternoon was the recognition of the 2026 MSAAC Award winners, who were nominated by members of the LCPS community.
