Work Session
The School Board received the FY26 3rd Quarter Financial Review.
The School Board received a presentation on the Special Education Annual Plan Application Approval for 2026-2027.

The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem were performed by the Willard Middle School Chamber Strings.
School Board and Administrative Advisory Committee Update
The Loudoun Education Alliance of Families (LEAF) Advisory Committee provided the School Board with an update.
Recognitions
Staff announced the 2026 Annual Awards winners from the Operational and Instructional awards programs. This included the Teacher of the Year, Eric Kursman from Blue Ridge Middle School and
Principal of the Year, Katie Johnson from Belmont Ridge Middle School.
The School Board heard a presentation describing how Belmont Station's self-contained Special Education teachers and staff utilized the TeachTown curriculum and adapted the literary classics of Goldilocks and The Wizard of Oz to create an authentic and meaningful learning experience for students and the community.

Highlights of the report include:
Harper Park students celebrated Arbor Day with a tree-planting ceremony featuring the Mayor of Leesburg.
Over 500 students participated in the PROPEL and Level Up Innovation Day at the Academies of Loudoun.
Park View High School advisors received the 2026 VSCA Advisors of the Year Award.

Action Items
The Board addressed one action item:
The School Board discussed new Policy 4190, Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) Funding. The item will be voted on at the next School Board meeting.
Information Items
The Board addressed several information items, including:
The School Board heard from staff regarding increasing the FY27 School Operating Fund budget by $6.2 million to recognize available state funding in support of compensation actions already approved by the School Board.
Staff provided the School Board with 5 student calendar options for the 2028-29 school year, along with 4 correlating teacher calendar options.
The School Board discussed Revised Policy 5310, Special Education Evaluations, Eligibility, and Educational Programming, and the deletion of Policy 5330, Special Education Student Eligibility and Transfer Procedures.
Board Member Comments and Committee Reports
Board members provided comments and updates on their committees.
New Business
Ms. LaBell discussed recent motor vehicle accidents involving students and expressed a desire for law enforcement to provide students with education on safe driving practices.
Ms. Griffiths expanded upon Ms. LaBell’s comments by stating that additional education for riders of e-bikes and scooters would also be helpful.
The Board then entered into a Closed Session.
