The Virginia Student Councils Association (VSCA) announced that Faith Primus and Nick Bailey of Park View High School are the 2026 VSCA Advisors of the Year. Each year, VSCA calls for nominations of student council advisors who exemplify the very best qualities of an advisor — educators who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty.
Ms. Primus and Mr. Bailey have spent years nurturing young leaders, empowering students to discover their voices, and building a Student Council program where every student feels valued and capable. Their leadership, compassion, and dedication have transformed the student leadership experience at Park View High School by creating an environment where students grow not only as leaders, but as people. They encourage students at every level, from new members to returning officers and those who never saw themselves as leaders before, to step forward with confidence.
“Nick Bailey and Faith Primus have transformed student leadership at Park View High School by fostering a culture where students understand that leadership is not about holding a title, but about taking responsibility, serving others, and leading with heart,” said Dr. Jason Jefferson, Principal of Park View High School. “Through their guidance, students support one another, strengthen their school community, and represent Park View with pride through their actions. I am incredibly proud of the impact Nick and Faith have in shaping students who leave Park View prepared to lead with purpose, contribute meaningfully, and carry these values into every space they enter.”
Many students credit them as the reason they found the courage to take risks, share ideas, and pursue leadership opportunities they once believed were out of reach. In a nomination letter, the Park View High School Student Council president wrote: “One of their greatest strengths is how much they genuinely care about students. They take the time to listen, offer helpful advice, and provide encouragement when it is needed most. They understand that leadership looks different for everyone and work hard to help each student reach their full leadership potential.”
What sets Ms. Primus and Mr. Bailey apart is their steadfast belief that leadership belongs to everyone. Serving at a Title I school, they work intentionally to ensure that traditions, spirit days, and schoolwide events are accessible, inclusive, and designed so every student can participate. Their commitment to belonging has strengthened school pride and created meaningful campus traditions that celebrate all voices, especially those too often overlooked.
