The Loudoun County School Board held a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in the School Board Meeting Room at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.

Work Session
Staff from the Department of Student Services and the Department of Teaching and Learning presented the Board with information on Co-Teaching Strategies for SPED and EL Learners. Staff reviewed the collaborative work, inclusive of aligned guidance, between the Division of English Learners and the Office of Special Education to support the individualized and differentiated needs of English Learners and Students with Disabilities.

Pledge of Allegiance
The Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) posted the colors and performed the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem was performed by the Potomac Falls High School and River Bend Middle School Guitar Quartets.
School Board and Administrative Advisory Committee Update
The LCPS Special Education Advisory Committee provided a quarterly update.

Highlights of the report include:
Loudoun Valley High School hosted over 500 students from 26 schools at the Special Olympics Feet Meet.
A NASA Astronaut visited students at Meadowland Elementary School.
Students at J. Lupton Simpson Middle School conducted a food waste audit to support sustainability efforts.

Action Items
The Board addressed three action items:
The School Board voted to adopt the Minutes of the March 5, 2026, Special School Board Meeting, as amended.
The School Board voted to create a Select Committee of the School Board to oversee the MOU negotiations between LCPS, LCSO and LPD.
The School Board voted to approve the deletion of Policy 8-65 and the creation of New Policy 6330, Distribution of Information/Materials and Posting within Schools, on School Grounds, or During School-Sponsored Events, as amended.
