On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the School Board voted to make two changes to the current school calendar. We are in the process of updating this information across our website and calendars, but wanted to let you know as quickly as possible.
No school for students on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Due to the special statewide election scheduled on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, students will have a holiday. Scheduled after-school activities will continue as planned. Check your school website for program information. April 21, 2026, will be a remote-eligible workday for school staff. Consult your supervisor with questions.
Why? The Virginia Department of Elections scheduled a special election regarding a Virginia Constitutional Amendment for April 21, 2026, and has indicated that high voter turnout is expected. Many of our schools serve as polling places, which means the voting public and election officials will need access to cafeterias, gyms or other shared spaces, parking and much more. With students off that day, we avoid disruption to instruction and visitor management challenges, ensuring safe, efficient public access. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.
Taking the time to vote and participate in elections is important. We encourage families to discuss the election process and civic engagement with their students.

No School for Students Monday, June 15, 2026
During the School Board's consideration of the spring schedule, they also discussed moving the last day for students from Monday, June 15 (the only school day that week) to the previous Friday, June 12, 2026. That motion passed unanimously. The last day of school for students is now Friday, June 12, 2026.
Monday, June 15, 2026, will be a school staff professional development day. Employees can check with their supervisors for details.
