Consent Agenda

School Board and Administrative Advisory Committee Update
The Head Start Supervisor and Policy Council Chairperson provided an update on the shared governance system guiding the Head Start Preschool program.
Work Session
The Department of Academics presented an update on the development of the 2032 Strategic Plan and invited the School Board to provide feedback on key elements.

The Seneca Ridge Middle School Chorus led the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.
Recognitions
The Department of School Leadership presented a certificate of recognition to Park View High School, which has been named a 2025 National ESEA Distinguished School, earning national recognition for its success in improving student achievement and delivering high-quality educational outcomes for all learners. Park View is one of only 63 schools nationwide selected for this honor by the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA) through the National ESEA Distinguished Schools program.
The Department of Communications and Community Engagement presented three School Business Partnerships named to the 2025-2026 Virginia School Board Association (VSBA) Business Honor Roll: Luck Stone, in partnership with Aldie Elementary School; Ashby Ponds, in partnership with CAST and the Department of Student Services; and, Long Stone Farm, in partnership with Lovettsville Elementary.

Shared highlights from around the division, including the new principal for W.O. Robey High School, the spelling bee winner, and a highlight of the LCPS-hosted Cyberslam.

Community members participated virtually and in person to provide comments on a range of topics.
Action Items
Discussion and amendments of the School Board minutes from March 5, 2026, approval of the Middleburg Community Charter School (MCCS) 2026-2027 School Calendar, and approval of the Social Sciences and Global Studies (SSGS) instruction resource recommendation.
Information Items
The School Board heard several information items, including:
Moved the information item on the 2025-2026 student school calendar to action and voted to make April 21, 2026, the day of the Virginia Special Election, a student holiday and a remote-eligible work day for school staff; moved the last day of school for students to Friday, June 12, 2026, from Monday, June 15; and, made June 15 a school staff professional development day.
Heard an update on LCPS Transportation, including walk zone and school start time review.
Discussed the creation of a select committee of the School Board for the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between LCPS, LCSO and LPD.
