Loudoun County Public Schools recently hosted a Job for a Day Appreciation Breakfast at the Academies of Loudoun to recognize more than 70 business partners who opened their doors to students and helped strengthen work-based learning across Loudoun County. The event also highlighted student talent, with breakfast prepared and served by the Academies Catering & Banquet students under the mentorship of Chef Haughie, and centerpieces thoughtfully created by students in the Environmental Plant Sciences class.
Sponsored by the Loudoun County School Business Partnership Executive Council and organized through the Division of Career, Technical and Adult Education, Job for a Day continues to serve as a cornerstone career exploration experience for students across the division.
During the November 2025 event, approximately 600 students spent the day with businesses and organizations throughout Loudoun County, stepping into professional environments to observe daily operations, ask questions and explore potential career pathways. From health care and engineering to public service, hospitality and technology, students gained valuable insight into the skills and collaboration required in today’s workforce.
The appreciation breakfast offered an opportunity to reflect on the collective impact of these partnerships and to celebrate a shared commitment to student success.
By hosting students, business partners help bridge classroom learning with practical application, empowering students to make informed decisions about their futures while strengthening the region’s talent pipeline.
“Job for a Day is more than workforce development. This experience provides students with an early, meaningful introduction to the professional world and helps create stronger, more sustainable pathways for the future,” Kristina Lee, Work-Based Learning Coordinator shared. “Our business partners play a critical role in advancing career conversations and offering real-world opportunities earlier than ever before across LCPS.”
Events like Job for a Day illustrate the power of community engagement in education. When schools and businesses collaborate, students benefit from expanded opportunities, deeper learning experiences and a clearer vision for what lies ahead.
LCPS extends its sincere gratitude to every organization that participated and invested in the next generation. Their continued partnership plays a vital role in preparing students for life beyond graduation.
