List of 42 LCPS guitarists from 10 high schools performing in the 13th All-Virginia Guitar Ensemble with a guitar and musical notes illustration.

Forty-two talented Loudoun County Public Schools students were honored with a selection to perform in the prestigious 13th All-Virginia Guitar Ensemble in late November.

This exceptionally skilled ensemble is a highlight of the annual Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Conference, held this year in Norfolk, Va. The conference brings together music educators from all across the Commonwealth as well as the most talented student musicians for workshops, performances and collaboration.

Being chosen for the All-Virginia Guitar Ensemble (AVGE) is a significant accomplishment as it is the highest distinction awarded to student guitarists at the state level. The selection process recognizes students who have dedicated countless hours to mastering their craft. The audition itself consists of scales, a solo guitar piece, various ensemble excerpts, and sight-reading. After being selected and with about seven and half weeks to prepare, the students were sent the music to practice in preparation for the event. The 42 LCPS guitarists traveled to Norfolk on November 19, and after two days of focused and challenging rehearsal time, delivered a memorable performance on November 21. Their participation is a testament to the dedication of the students, the support of their families and the excellence of our LCPS music programs and their dedicated guitar teachers.

"Seeing our students perform on the All-Virginia stage brings an incredible sense of honor and pride to our entire Guitar program. These students represent the very best and brightest in Guitar Education, not just in our Commonwealth, but across our nation. This experience is far more than just a performance; it’s a powerful affirmation of their dedication and talent," said William Hart Wells, director of guitar at Harmony Middle School and president of the Virginia Guitar Directors Association.

Congratulations to the stellar musicians and our county’s guitar program on this fantastic achievement. Their hard work and talent truly shine, representing the best of Loudoun County.
