Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is sharing its 2025 state and federal accountability and accreditation results for all schools. All LCPS schools are fully accredited under Virginia’s accreditation system, which focuses on safe and healthy learning environments, teacher licensure and other Standards of Quality.
Under Virginia’s new School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF), each school is placed into one of four performance categories. This year, LCPS has:
46 schools classified as Distinguished,
34 schools classified as On Track,
15 schools classified as Off Track, and
3 schools needing Intensive Support.
Schools may also receive a federal support designation based on how specific student groups are performing. LCPS has 11 schools identified for Targeted Support and Intervention (TSI) and two identified for Comprehensive Support and Intervention (CSI). Schools receiving a TSI or CSI designation are automatically placed in a lower SPSF category, per state rules.
Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence noted, “Accountability and accreditation are two of many measures that provide important insight into how we are serving our students and where we can continue to grow. While we are certainly proud of the work happening every day in our schools, more work is in front of us. We remain focused on continuous improvement and ensuring every LCPS student is supported, challenged and prepared for success.”
Together, accreditation and accountability give families a more complete picture of school performance and help guide decisions about instruction, supports, and resources.
“For schools identified by the state as needing additional support, we are committed to providing targeted, data-informed resources and strategies that will empower our teachers and deliver the most impactful support for the students who need it most,” said Chief Academic Officer Dr. Ashley Ellis.
The new state model places more emphasis on student mastery and less on academic growth. This shift can overlook the progress made by English Learners, students with disabilities and others who may show meaningful gains even if they have not yet reached mastery. LCPS will continue to monitor and celebrate student growth, as it remains a vital part of ensuring long-term academic success.
