Work Session
The Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee (CTEAC) provided their advisory committee update to the Board.
The School Board heard from Chief Academic Officer Dr. Ashley Ellis of the Department of Academics, who presented an update on the progress of developing the 2027-2032 Strategic Plan.
The 2025-2026 Legislative Program was presented for the School Board’s information.

The Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem were performed by Arcola Elementary School Chorus.
Recognitions
Chair Mansfield introduced and recognized the three incoming members-elect of the School Board: Ross Svenson (Broad Run District), Jon Pepper (Dulles District), and Amy Riccardi (Sterling District).
The One LCPS Spotlight highlighted the work and progress of Harper Park Middle School on reading programs and initiatives.

Superintendent’s Report
Highlights of the report include:
Lightridge Family and Consumer Sciences students prepared and delivered over 70 Thanksgiving meals to students and their families experiencing homelessness.
LCPS hosted its first Interfaith luncheon, “United in Service,” bringing together community faith leaders and highlighting family engagement across the school community.
Empowered!, a family conference to encourage English learner success, provided resources and information to families so they can better support their child’s academic journey.

The following action items were addressed by the School Board:
The School Board voted to approve the exception requests for certain current middle school students affected by the 2026-2027 Attendance Zone Changes, as per Policy 8160 Survey Results for Certain Rising Grade 8 Students.
The School Board voted to approve the exception requests for certain current high school students affected by the 2026-2027 Attendance Zone Changes, as per Policy 8160 Survey Results for Certain Rising Grade 10 and 11 Students.
The School Board voted to approve the FY25 County Fund Balance Request.
The School Board voted to approve changing the status of the Equity Committee to a School Division Administrative Advisory Committee.
The School Board deferred consideration of Policy 8155, School Assignment, as amended, to the December 16 School Board meeting for action.

Proposed revisions to Policy 3410 - Office of the Auditor General, Policy 2130 - Oath of Office, and Policy 2140 - Orientation and Professional Development for Board Members.
