Advisory Committee Update
The Loudoun Education Alliance of Families (LEAF) Advisory Committee provided an update to the Board as requested.
Work Session
The Office of the Ombuds annual report summarized the data gathered from constituent contacts received between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025. The annual report highlighted notable observations within the 2024-2025 data and outlined focus areas for the 2025-2026 school year.
Staff provides a financial review to the School Board at the end of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters of each fiscal year. This 1st quarter financial report captured financial activity for June 2025 through September 2025 and provided a projection for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Staff presented an update on the activities occurring to develop the FY27 budget, and School Board member feedback is requested to provide strategic direction and help prioritize budget initiatives.

Highlights of the report include:
River Bend Middle School hosted the first Family Feedback Circle to strengthen the school community.
LCPS is ranked the #4 best school division in Virginia on Niche.
Friday, October 24, will be the 2nd annual Workforce Summit dedicated to fostering partnerships.

Community members participated virtually and in person to provide the School Board with comments on a range of topics.
Action Items
The Board addressed two action items:
The School Board voted to award IFB #I26016 to Stream Mitigation Credits for High School #14.
The School Board voted to delete Policy 2320, School Health Advisory Board, because its content has been incorporated into Policy 2310, Committees of the School Board.

The Board addressed several information items, including:
The School Board discussed the Department of Teaching and Learning's draft Policy 5440, Division-Wide Literacy Plan, to comply with the Virginia Literacy Act (VLA).
The Board then went into a Closed Session.
