The Loudoun County School Board (LCSB) has completed its annual review of Dr. Aaron Spence, Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Superintendent, and has extended his contract by one additional year, through June 20, 2029. Per Dr. Spence’s contract, provided he receives at least a “proficient” performance rating by the Board for the preceding fiscal year, he will be entitled to an annual salary increase equal to the average annual cost-of-living adjustment and the average step increase given to all employees. The School Board also approved an increase of the deferred compensation Dr. Spence is entitled to per his contract to $32,500 for the 2025-26 school year.
“The School Board is proud to have Dr. Spence leading Loudoun County Public Schools,” said Melinda Mansfield, Chair of the Loudoun County School Board. “His visionary and student-centered leadership is moving our division forward in bold and thoughtful ways. Dr. Spence brings a clear focus on belonging, educational goals, and meaningful opportunities for all students. From the launch of Think Big Corners, bringing hands-on STEM learning to our elementary schools, to the creation of future-focused programs like the ACCESS Academy with George Mason University and the proposed Global and Linguistic Studies Academy at Dominion High School, he is working with the Board, staff, families and community partners to expand opportunity and reimagine what’s possible for every learner. His leadership inspires confidence, creates momentum, and reflects the values of Loudoun County. We are honored to continue this important work together.”
