Stone Bridge High School’s Library Program has been named the 2025 recipient of the prestigious Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award by the American Library Association (ALA) for its Historical Artifact Footlocker Program. The school is only the second high school to earn the Jaffarian Award since eligibility was extended to grades 9–12 in 2024.
Created by Stone Bridge librarians Laura Channing and Erin Curry, the program offers hands-on learning through circulating footlockers filled with artifacts from World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War. In its first year, the program expanded across all 37 Loudoun County secondary schools, reaching more than 4,000 students.
As part of the award, Stone Bridge will receive a $5,000 prize, a crystal award, and the opportunity to share the program with educators nationwide through a featured article and webinar. This national recognition honors outstanding humanities programming in K–12 school libraries and follows earlier recognition by the Virginia Association of School Librarians (VAASL).
