Moorefield Station Elementary hosted its inaugural Children’s Business Fair on May 7, 2025, showcasing the creativity, talent and generosity of its young entrepreneurs. The event featured student-made products including arts and crafts, stationery and jewelry—all designed and sold by students who embraced the challenge of building and marketing their own small businesses.
Through their efforts, students raised proceeds to donate to three charitable organizations: Loudoun Hunger Relief, Women Giving Back and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. These donations reflect the students’ commitment to making a difference in the lives of others in Loudoun County and beyond.
The Children’s Business Fair is more than a marketplace—it is a hands-on service learning opportunity that directly supports the LCPS Profile of a Graduate. This framework outlines the knowledge, skills, experiences and attributes each student must attain to be successful in college, the workforce and life. These attributes, known as the 5Cs—collaborator, communicator, contributor, creator and critical thinker—were all on display as students applied curriculum-aligned content through real-world skills in math, literacy, economics and communication. Students developed and priced products, marketed their businesses and engaged with customers, all while learning the value of social responsibility.
Service learning experiences like this foster empathy, build leadership skills and create meaningful connections between classroom instruction and the world around us. Moorefield Station’s first Children’s Business Fair empowered students to become creative problem-solvers and inspired them to lead with heart.
The event was a celebration of innovation, collaboration and compassion—values that reflect the very best of Moorefield Station and LCPS.
