Thirteen Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) as National Merit $2,500 Scholarship or corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners.
Eleven LCPS students were named National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners out of more than 15,000 finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners are the finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors.
The National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners from LCPS are:
Lamees Alkarmi, Dominion High School
Aditya Bansal, Lightridge High School
Avni Garg, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

Two LCPS students have been named corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners. These students are among the approximately 830 high school seniors who have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards for 2025. These scholarship winners were selected from students who advanced to the finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition and met the criteria of their scholarship sponsors. Corporate sponsors provide National Merit Scholarships for finalists who are children of their employees, who are residents of communities the company serves, or who plan to pursue college majors or careers the sponsor wishes to encourage.
The LCPS students who won 2025 corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarships are:
Rishabh Goel, Rock Ridge High School, National Merit Leidos, Inc. Scholarship
Kevin E. Tamir, Briar Woods High School, National Merit Sony Electronics, Inc. Scholarship
Most corporate-sponsored awards are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study and provide annual stipends that range from $1,000 to $10,000 per year. Some provide a single payment between $2,500 and $5,000. Recipients can use their awards at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university of their choice.
These scholarship announcements are the first award announcements as part of NMSC’s 70th annual awards presentation. NMSC will name the winners of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards on June 4 and July 14. For more information, visit the NMSC website.
