• All in Tutoring Loudoun

  • Through the Virginia Department of Education’s All In VA plan, LCPS offers tutoring to all LCPS students through two means.

First, schools have identified some students in grades 3-5 or 6-8 to receive high-dose tutoring that supports the student's specific needs. This individualized tutoring may occur during the school day or after school. Part-time hourly tutors, high school students, community volunteers or site-assigned tutors through University Instructors will provide the tutoring at the school.

Secondly, LCPS offers free, on-demand tutoring through varsity tutors to all kindergarten through grade 12 students. This resource varies from school tutoring. The free Varsity Tutors program provides homework help, writing support and live enrichment sessions available 24 hours per day/7 days per week in a wide variety of subjects, including math, science, writing and more. Parents/guardians can contact Varsity Tutors to learn more about all the available services. All classes are English only.

  • All In Tutoring Summary

All In VA High Dosage Tutoring

In accordance with the Governor’s All In Virginia Plan, LCPS is implementing high dosage tutoring in all elementary and middle schools. Tutoring will take place in a variety of ways throughout the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year.

    Identification of Students

    • Schools identified students in grades 3-5 or 6-8 to receive tutoring services using multiple data points, such as SOL and MAP data.
    • Students may receive tutoring in math, reading, or both.
    • Considerations are made if additional tutoring would support the student's needs, and the appropriateness of tutoring is considered on a case-by-case basis.

    How the Tutoring Works

    • Schools have developed a model and schedule that works best for the school community. Multiple considerations are taken into account.
    • Tutoring may occur during the school day or after school

    Who are the Tutors:

    • Part-time hourly tutors before, during and after school
    • High school students and other volunteers
    • Site-assigned tutors through University Instructors
    • On-demand and online tutoring through Varsity Tutors

    Who are University Instructors?

    • University Instructors work with schools for the High Dosage 1:1 In-School Tutoring. LCPS has partnered with University Instructors (UI) to recruit, screen and place tutors in our schools actively. UI tutors will supplement, not supplant, staff who qualify as tutors.
    • UI has assigned each school a Program Coordinator who will visit the tutors at your school periodically to ensure the quality of tutoring and address any questions or concerns principals have.

    Who are the Varsity Tutors:

    • Varsity Tutors is a live learning platform that connects learners to private and group tutoring, classes, test prep, and virtual learning for all students and professionals.

What is the difference between University Instructors and Varsity Tutors?

    • University Instructors work in schools with students identified as needing specific reading and math support.

    • Varsity Tutors offers free, on-demand online tutoring services for ALL students in Grades K-12. This resource is a 24/7 service accessible at school, home or on the go! Students may access Varsity Tutors through LCPS GO. Parents can access Varsity Tutors through their website.

    Transportation for in-school tutoring

    • Elementary School: Check with the school for transportation availability, bus routes and stops.

    • Middle School: Students will use the after-school buses, and the established hub stops are currently in place.
