The Loudoun County School Board held a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, in the School Board Meeting Room at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.

Work Session
Staff presented a summary of the 2024-2025 student achievement data and state accountability results and demonstrated how it connects to the One LCPS: 2027 Strategic Plan for Excellence. Data included Standards of Learning, Measures of Academic Progress, VALLSS, graduation rates, SAT results, and state accreditation status. Data is shared by school and reporting group when possible.

The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem were performed by the Stone Bridge High School Encore and Bel Canto Choir.

Superintendent’s Report
Highlights of the report include:

  • Lightridge High School TSA Students Excel at National Conference.

  • Sixty-nine LCPS Students named 2026 National Merit Semifinalists.

  • Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Teacher Cohort Launched.

  • Construction Supervisor Earns SHINE Award.

Public Comment
Community members participated virtually and in person to provide the School Board with comments on a range of topics.

Action Items
The Board addressed three action items:

  1. The Board voted to proclaim October as LGBTQ+ History Month. Recognizing LGBTQ+ History Month affirms Loudoun County Public Schools’ commitment to fostering equity, belonging, and inclusion.

  2. The School Board approved the amended budget development calendar for the FY27 Annual Budget.

  3. The School Board adopted the amended Specialized Programs & Centers Committee's changes to Policy 5410, Establishment of Charter Schools. 

Information Items
The Board addressed several information items, including:

  1. The School Board received information from the Office of the Superintendent on the 4th Quarter Forecast.

  2. The School Board discussed considering an addition to the approved 2025-2026 Work Plan proposed by the Joint Committee of the Loudoun County School Board and Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

  3. The School Board discussed considering the deletion of Policy 2320, School Health Advisory Board.

The Board then went into a Closed Session.

New Business
Ms. LaBell discussed having the Board physically sign proclamations instead of using electronic signatures.
