    Loudoun International Youth Leadership Summit

The 6th Annual Loudoun International Youth Leadership Summit was held March 26 to April 4, 2017.  Six Loudoun County high schools (Dominion, Park View, Potomac Falls, Rock Ridge, Broad Run, and Champe) and 25 international delegations representing Australia, Austria, Chile, China, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany (2), Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa (2), South Korea (2), Spain, and Tanzania took part in the event.

The LIYLS 2017 theme was "Reconcile the Past, Shape the Future:  Building Peace Within and Among Nations."  Discussions, activities, and speakers focused on examining internal conflicts faced by countries, such as the civil rights movement in the United States, as well as international conflicts.  Students examined the steps people and institutions have taken to build peace within their communities and across borders and consider how these practices can best be applied to conflicts facing the world today.
