The Loudoun County Captains Girls Soccer team reigned supreme as the 2025 Class 4 State Champion after defeating the Woodgrove Wolverines 1-0 Saturday, June 14.
County dominated possession of the ball vs. Woodgrove the entire game. Freshman Claire Engelberger's goal with 19:20 remaining in the first half was all the offense the Captains needed to capture the title and finish the season undefeated.
Freshman Maylin Faye earned her second state title of the year by winning championships in Competition Cheer in the Fall and Girls Soccer in the Spring. Seniors Emily Horst, Abby Graham, Alex Ganey, Cat Schroeder, Penelope (Nelly) Kern, Madison Whitt, Sadie Stevens, and Bri Cleary end their high school careers as State Champions. Ganey posted shutouts in the goalie position in both the state semifinal game and state final game.
Congratulations to the coaching staff Chelsea O’Bruba, Alberto Starace, Mack Crawford and Angie Osorio on a job well done!
