Wrestling

The Loudoun County Wrestling program finished as the 2024-2025 VA Class 4 State Runner-Up at Tallwood HS in Virginia Beach March 1.

The state wrestling meet is traditionally held over two days.  However, the meet was consolidated to a one-day meet due to the meet postponement due to weather last week.

Wrestling began at 8 a.m. and continued throughout the day with medal rounds not beginning until 7:15 p.m. This meant a very long day of managing hydration and snacking, recovery times, and emotions but the team handled it wonderfully.

Wrestling concluded shortly before 10 p.m. when the Captains were handed their Runner-Up trophy! Individual State Champions included Bryce Schnelzer (120), Lincoln Kelley (132), and Justin Lowery (157.) This is Bryce’s first state title while Lincoln and Justin repeated as State Champions!  Also, earning All-State honors were Octavian Ashford (170) and Salem Awad (215) who both placed third.

Congratulations to Coach Murphy, his staff and the entire program on a wonderful season!
