World Languages and Cultures at Lunsford
Students in 7th and 8th grade may begin their World Language credits in either German 1, French 1, or Spanish 1. Students who complete level 1 in a language may move on to level 2 the following year. JML offers Levels 1 and 2 for German, French, and Spanish. No prior experience or knowledge is required to start learning a language. All students can learn a new language!
All World Language courses are high-school level courses and thus award high-school credit and count toward their high school grade point average. Students pursuing an Advanced Studies Diploma must earn three(3) credits of the same language, or two(2) credits of two languages. Students can take up to six years of their chosen language through high school.
It is our goal as a World Languages department to prepare students for success beyond just graduation requirements. We aim to instill a curiosity for culture and a love for languages in all of our students.
