Leesburg, VA (June 8, 2026) – The votes are in! Students from Leesburg Elementary School have won the Town of Leesburg’s 2026 “Paint the Plow” art contest.
This year’s theme was “Leesburg is Out of This World.” Leesburg Elementary School received 572 votes for its design.
Catoctin Elementary School placed second with 347 votes. Tuscarora High School finished third with 306 votes, while Smarts Mill Middle School earned honorable mention with 189 votes.
The top three schools will receive a monetary award for their school art departments. All four plows are expected to appear at community events throughout the year, including the Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade and Town holiday celebrations. They will also serve their primary purpose during snow events—clearing streets while showcasing the creativity and spirit of the Leesburg community.
The “Paint the Plow” art project is sponsored by the Leesburg Commission on Public Art (COPA) and the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts (FOLPA). Winners were selected by the public through an online survey.
Previously held in the fall, the contest timeline was moved to better accommodate teachers, students, and Town staff, helping ensure broader participation and a smoother production schedule.@All About Leesburg and Loudoun @leesburgva @Loudoun County Public Schools
