2nd grade team

Please join us in celebrating Lindsey Roseberry, our Teacher of the Year, and Sarah Blusiewicz, our New Teacher of the Year.

While they share a grade level, they also share a common mission: creating a space where every student feels seen, safe, and inspired to grow.

Teacher of the Year: Lindsey Roseberry

The Heart of Compassion and Consistency

Lindsey Roseberry doesn’t just teach; she nurtures. Known for her unwavering commitment to student growth, Lindsey has built a classroom culture where "taking risks" is celebrated and every child feels deeply valued.

Her colleagues note that Lindsey’s true magic lies in the "small things." She has a keen eye for the quiet moments—noticing the student who needs a little extra reassurance, the one who seems withdrawn, or the one who is ready for a new challenge. Her approach is defined by:

  • Boundless Flexibility: No matter what the day brings, Lindsey adapts. Whether a lesson plan needs a pivot or a student’s needs change mid-day, she meets them exactly where they are.

  • Intentional Design: Her hard work is evident in the thoughtful lessons she designs and the countless hours spent preparing to ensure every student is supported.

  • A Steady Presence: In an ever-changing school day, Lindsey remains a calm, creative, and compassionate guide, guiding her students forward with patience and understanding.

New Teacher ofthe Year: Sarah Blusiewicz

A Homegrown Leader with a Natural Gift

Sarah Blusiewicz may be "new" to the profession, but she is a familiar face in Loudoun County. A proud "homegrown" member of our community and a graduate of Dominion High School, Sarah’s deep personal connection to the area brings a special spark to her work at Sugarland Elementary. Since joining our second-grade team, she has quickly become an essential part of our school family.

Sarah has earned a reputation for master-level classroom management that rivals veteran educators. Highlights of her impact include:

  • Management Excellence: By being clear, explicit, and consistent, Sarah creates a classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and "ready to learn."

  • Leadership Under Pressure: Beyond the classroom, Sarah demonstrated her professionalism by successfully managing a schoolwide musical assembly—calmly coordinating student speakers and an excited audience with confidence and precision.

  • A Valued Teammate: In just her third year at Sugarland, her ability to lead in high-energy situations speaks volumes about her presence and dedication to the school.

A Winning Team

Having two such dedicated educators in the same grade level is a gift to our students and our staff. Lindsey’s seasoned compassion and Sarah’s vibrant leadership remind us all why Sugarland is such a special place to learn.

Congratulations, Ms. Roseberry and Ms. Blusiewicz! Thank you for all you do for our students.
