During the 2026-2027 school year, Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) will launch the Smart Start K-2 Tech Pilot to explore how different approaches to classroom technology can best support teaching and learning for students in kindergarten through second grade. Sanders Corner Elementary School will be a part of this pilot program.

Participating schools will be testing different technology deployment models in K-2 classrooms. For our school, each grade level classroom will share technology carts, eliminating the need for students in grades 1 and 2 to carry their own Chromebooks to and from school each day. The goal of this pilot is to evaluate potential models for division-wide deployment. Please note that this pilot involves looking at a variety of ways that technology can enhance education. It is not a “technology elimination” pilot. The first initial steps will be to allow for students in these grade levels to take some assessments via paper and pencil rather than on technology. There will be other experiences during the course of the school year that will have data analyzed to determine success.
