We are monitoring weather reports for this weekend. While no decisions have been made regarding school status, we want to ensure our families are prepared.
Chromebook Reminder: All K-12 students should take their LCPS-issued Chromebooks home today, Thurs., Jan. 22, to ensure they have access to resources if needed.
Optional At-Home Resources: LCPS has curated two sets of optional activities for families during weather-related breaks:
Learning Resources (K-12): lcps.org/snowdayresources
Family & SEL Activities: lcps.org/o/doss/page/family-sel
Both sites offer a mix of optional digital and non-tech activities to fit your family's needs. Stay safe and stay tuned for updates!

We are happy to announce that our Superintendent, Dr. Aaron Spence, received the Dr. Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award by the School Superintendents Association (AASA). This honor is given annually to education leaders who are committed to the advancement and mentorship of women and underrepresented groups in public schools. To find out more here.

Please check your school’s calendar or with your school staff if you have any questions about any activity or team event that may be scheduled by your school during this time.

In this month’s Think Fast, Dr. Spence expresses gratitude to students, staff and families for their hard work throughout the first half of the school year. https://www.lcps.org/article/2605967

This Thanksgiving, Lightridge High School Family and Consumer Science students Cooked Up Hope by preparing full holiday meals for LCPS students and families who are experiencing homelessness. The Lightridge students applied their culinary skills to create a traditional feast while learning teamwork, problem-solving and service. The students prepared 72 meals, which were distributed by LCPS staff to 18 LCPS families currently living in hotels. In total, more than 1,000 LCPS students receive services through the LCPS McKinney-Vento program, which ensures educational rights and services for children and youth experiencing homelessness.
