Summer Math Discovery Program
Purpose
LCPS BEAM Summer Math Discovery is a summer program run by the LCPS Math Department and supported by grants and local funders (listed at the bottom of the page). The program engages students in problem solving and a wide range of mathematical topics during the summer. Its mission is to challenge students and introduce them to advanced mathematics, helping them grow as mathematical thinkers and doers. The program was developed with support from Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM). Since its launch in 2021, LCPS BEAM has supported over 500 students—including approximately 180 rising 7th graders and 65 returning rising 8th graders in the summer of 2025.
