School Counseling Internship Program
Step 1
University Supervisors/Placement Coordinators:
Please have the student submit a Teacher in Training Application once the Fall 2024 portal opens in April.
If the student is an employee of LCPS they do not need to fill out an application, but we need to know their position title. If the student is an employee of LCPS they may be required to submit an educational leave request to his or her principal, which can be obtained from human resources. Please have the student/employee review the request prior to submitting his or her placement request to LCPS for student teacher, practicum, field experience, observation, internship, etc.
Placements should not be shared with students until they have completed the Talent-In-Training and have been cleared.
All students new to Loudoun will be required to complete a mandatory TNT orientation before reporting to the assigned school. Ideally, the student should finish the orientation 8 weeks prior to reporting to the assigned school. This is beneficial for the student in the event the student's fingerprint results are delayed. This will ensure the student starts on time, pending fingerprints and TB clearance.
Step 2
Requesting Placement for Practicum/Intern Students:
To request placement in LCPS, please do so by May 1 for fall placements and October 31st for spring placements.
Requests made after May 1 or October 1 may still be fulfilled depending on site supervisor availability.
School Counseling Intern & Practicum students will be required to submit a Resume
School Counseling Intern & Practicum students will be required to submit Letter of Interest with the placement request to include:
Introduction of student
Explanation of previous work and/or school experience
Why you want to be a School Counselor
