A Nurturing Space for Our Youngest Learners: The K-2 Specialized Program

Welcome to our K-2 Specialized Program, a warm and inviting space where we celebrate the unique strengths of every child. We believe in a neuroaffirming approach, which means we honor and embrace the diverse ways our students think and experience the world. Our classrooms are designed to be nurturing environments where students feel safe to explore, learn, and grow. At the heart of our program are student-led practices. We empower our young learners to take an active role in their education, from choosing activities to expressing their needs. We also integrate the development of functional language and skills into our daily routines, helping students communicate their wants and needs effectively and engage in practical activities that support their independence. This approach builds confidence and fosters a sense of ownership, making learning a joyful and meaningful experience.

Fostering Independence and Community: The 3-5 Autism Program

In our 3-5 Specialized Program, we build upon the foundational skills developed in our younger program, focusing on fostering independence and a strong sense of community. Our neuroaffirming philosophy continues to guide us as we provide a supportive and understanding environment. We encourage students to lead their learning journey, giving them the tools and opportunities to advocate for themselves and their interests. Through student-led projects and collaborative activities, we help students develop essential social and life skills. A key component of our program is the explicit teaching of functional language and skills, such as problem-solving, self-advocacy, and daily living tasks, to prepare them for real-world situations. This program is designed to be a nurturing bridge to middle school, ensuring our students are confident, capable, and ready for their next chapter.
