School-Business Partner Executive Council Initiatives

Established by School Board action in 1990, the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) School Business Partnership Executive Council (SBPEC) has spent over two decades building strong, purposeful connections between the school division and the business community. Its mission is to recognize and engage business and industry partners who are committed to shaping Loudoun’s future by supporting today’s classrooms.

Since its inception, the SBPEC has played a vital role in fostering innovative opportunities that inspire and prepare students for success. Through collaborative efforts with community partners, the SBPEC has helped create impactful experiences such as career expos, Job for a Day, apprenticeship fairs, and authentic learning opportunities that enrich the educational journey of LCPS students.

The SBPEC serves as a catalyst for connecting resources that support a wide range of needs across the division. From enhancing teaching and learning to providing wraparound services, wellness initiatives, and community-building efforts, the SBPEC plays a meaningful role in ensuring students, families, and staff have the tools they need to thrive. By aligning community partnerships with division priorities, the SBPEC helps expand access to opportunities and fosters a shared commitment to student success across Loudoun County.

Our Focus Areas

The SBPEC’s work aligns with four key areas that reflect its ongoing impact:

1. Career-Aligned Industry Representation

Council members represent National Career Clusters and Loudoun’s key economic sectors. This ensures students are connected to meaningful career pathways in fields such as healthcare, technology, agriculture, construction, and business. These connections help students envision and pursue their futures with clarity and purpose.

2. Innovation in Learning

The SBPEC partners with LCPS to expand and enrich academic opportunities. From mentoring and guest speaking to supporting curriculum development, members help shape real-world learning experiences. Their contributions have supported initiatives like pilot technology courses and the creation of the Health and Medical Sciences Academies at Briar Woods and Tuscarora High Schools.

3. Holistic Community Support

SBPEC members help connect schools with vital resources that benefit students, families, and staff. This includes sponsorships, volunteer efforts, financial literacy programs, wellness initiatives, and recognition events that strengthen the fabric of our school communities.

4. Systemwide Impact

The SBPEC supports the school division as a whole by aligning its efforts with LCPS priorities. Through strategic partnerships, the SBPEC helps ensure that every student has access to the resources, experiences, and support they need to succeed both in school and beyond.
