Dulles South Secondary School
Attendance Zone Change Process
Spring 2025
A Dulles South secondary school attendance zone was adopted by the School Board at their June 10, 2025 meeting. The adopted middle and high school changes will be implemented in fall 2026, with the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Pursuant to Policy 8160 and Board direction on June 10, the surveying of select students who have been rezoned for interest in remaining at their currently zoned school will be conducted in fall 2025.
On March 11, 2025, the Loudoun County School Board adopted a meeting schedule to facilitate the review of Dulles South area secondary school attendance zones. The current boundaries for Freedom High School/J. Michael Lunsford Middle School, John Champe High School/Mercer Middle School, and Lightridge High School/Willard Middle School will be reviewed in the attendance zone process.
Adopted middle and high school attendance zone changes will take effect in fall 2026, with the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
This attendance zone process is in advance of a spring 2027 attendance zone process that will be tied to the opening of HS-14 (2028-2029 school year) and the transition of Watson Mountain Middle School to a full-fledged middle school serving students in grades six through eight.
