Family Liaison

Hello Cedar Lane Family! My name is Blythe Shippie, and I am the new Family Liaison.  I am so excited to meet you all!  I have a graduate degree in clinical social work from Bryn Mawr College and an undergraduate degree from Villanova- GO Birds! My husband and I have two teenage daughters who love to dance and sing. We often hike, enjoying the beautiful Virginia countryside, as well as go to DC to explore the arts and museums. As the Family Liaison, I am here to build a bridge between the school and home, helping to develop a positive and trustworthy relationship with Cedar Lane and the LCPS community. Often, parents may feel uncomfortable going straight to the administration or teachers with concerns about their child’s social, emotional, or academic success.  Or are unsure of how to navigate the LCPS network.  That is what I am here for: to guide you to resources, understand your needs, and point you in the right direction to ensure your child’s well-being. Also, if you need help with food, clothing, medical, or school supplies, please do not hesitate; everything is kept confidential. My goal is for you to be an active participant in your child’s education and to empower you to face any challenges that may come your way.  Please reach out, I am here for you and ready to help.

Cedar Lane Family Assistance

As your Family Liaison, I am here to support your family and to ensure your child has the resources they need for a successful school experience. These resources look different for every family. Some examples include assistance with food, clothing, medical, housing, employment, or school supply assistance. I can also assist with connecting families to the appropriate LCPS staff as well as community organizations. All information shared will remain confidential.
