On October 4th, students from Monroe’s Auto Collision Repair, Auto Servicing Technology, Building Construction, Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Masonry, and Welding took part in the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) 8th Annual Transportation Career Fair.
This was an exciting day filled with information, demonstrations, raffles, and prizes. The fair took place at the Prince William County Fairgrounds and it offered students a wide variety of information about careers in transportation-related fields. Professionals from engineering, mathematics, science, aviation, transit, architecture, technology, construction, and the environment were all in attendance. With over 72 exhibitors, the students were able to learn about opportunities in technical, professional, or labor careers in the highway, airport, rail, and port industries. They collected information about scholarships, internships, and various career opportunities. Students engaged in hands-on activities with heavy equipment and other career related activities. Feedback and comments from our students indicated that their experience was indeed worthwhile and fun.
