4/12 - Monroe Students Visit the Big Apple

The weekend of April 23-26, Mrs. Edmonds’ Cosmetology II and Mrs. Smith’s Graphic Communications II students visited New York City. This trip gave the students a variety of opportunities.

The Cosmetology class attended the International Hair and Beauty Show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Here they observed the latest techniques and products available in their industry.  In addition to the hair show, they also had the opportunity to take part in a one-on-one session with a professional makeup artist at the Broadway Workshop.

The Graphic Communications students explored the Metropolitan Museum of Art and NBC Studios. The art museum visit was educational and showcased a variety of art forms. The NBC Studio tour took them to the Dr. Oz and TODAY Show studios. These studios are much smaller than they appear on television!

Lastly, both groups attended the Broadway show, Peter and the Starcatcher, and visited the Statue of Liberty, Bodies: The  Exhibition, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and the Top of the Rock, an observation deck at the Top of the Rockefeller Center Building.

This New York City trip was packed with pleasurable and exciting events.  Of course shopping and dining were a wonderful part of the trip. The Monroe students enjoyed their adventure!
