...Brenda G. Jochems as principal of Frances Hazel Reid Elementary. Mrs. Jochems holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of North Carolina/Charlotte; a master's degree in counseling and personnel services from the University of Maryland/Asian Division, Yokota, Japan; and an endorsement in administration and supervision from the University of Virginia. ...Robert L. Marple as principal of Hamilton Elementary. Mr. Marple holds a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Shepherd College and a master's degree in education administration from Shenandoah University. He has served as a physical education instructor at Blue Ridge Middle School, Leesburg, Hamilton and Cool Spring elementary schools; as a dean at Farmwell Station Middle School; as an assistant principal at Lowes Island Elementary; as an assistant principal at Park View High School; and as assistant principal at Evergreen Mill Elementary.
...Karen D. Roche as principal of Aldie Elementary. Mrs. Roche holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Lynchburg College, a master's degree in education from Marymount University and an education specialist degree in administration and supervision from the University of Virginia. She has served as a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Waterford Elementary; as a seventh and eighth grade social studies and English teacher at Sterling Middle School; as a seventh grade language arts team leader and eighth grade dean at Eagle Ridge Middle School; as a summer school principal at Mill Run Elementary; and as assistant principal at Seldens Landing Elementary.
...Tracy L. Stevens as principal of Seldens Landing Elementary. Mrs. Stevens holds a bachelor's degree secondary education, history, geography and political science from Georgian Court College, a master's degree in new professional studies in education from George Mason University; and an Ed.S. in education and policy studies from George Washington University. She has served as a teacher of the emotionally disturbed for students in the third through fifth grades at Booker Elementary School in Hampton, Va.; as a kindergarten, first grade and third through fifth grade teacher at the Cora Kelly Magnet School for Math, Science and Technology, as a first grade teacher at George Mason Elementary, as a summer school principal, as a performance evaluation program specialist and as an assistant principal at Jefferson-Houston School for Arts and Academics, all in Alexandria City Public Schools; and as assistant principal at Catoctin Elementary.
...Matthew D. Britt IV retired as assistant superintendent for personnel services. Mr. Britt holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Virginia State College and a master's degree in elementary and middle school administration from Virginia State University. He has served as a teacher and principal of Byrd Primary School in Goochland County; as a teacher, adult education coordinator, curriculum director, assistant principal of Walker-Grant Intermediate School and principal of Hugh Mercer Elementary for Fredericksburg City Public Schools; as assistant director of personnel for Stafford County Schools; and as a certified personnel officer and assistant superintendent for personnel services for Loudoun County Public Schools. Mr. Britt also has served as an adjunct professor for George Mason University.
...the formation of an Ad Hoc Boundary Policy Committee to return recommendations to the full School Board before the start of the next boundary process. This committee will be chaired by School Board Vice Chairman J. Warren Geurin and will allow for public input at all of its meetings.
Personnel Services – Larry Hopson Policy revision §7-60, Personal Leave.
Superintendent's Office – Peter Hughes and Anne Lewis explained the Grade Weighting Committee's recommendations.
Deputy Superintendent – Deputy Superintendent Ned Waterhouse constitution of an Ad Hoc Boundary Policy Committee; School Board policy revisions and adoptions – §2-3, Code of Ethics for School Board Members; §2-6, Oath of Office; §2-8, Compensation; §8-61, Distribution of Non-School Publications; and §5-45, Classroom Placement of Twins.
Eileen Murdock, Linda Hollingsworth, Diane Weber, Rachel Weber and Jack Weber spoke about the application of School Board Policy §8-2 & §8-35 on a Dominion High School field trip. Fran Mitchell asked for a reconsideration of employee benefits for retirees. Greg Kelly urged the School Board to form an ad hoc committee on the boundary process. Sandy Sullivan spoke against a proposed School Board policy that would prohibit teachers from extending holidays.
