Employee Benefits Coordinator Carol Edwards announced that Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) had been honored for the third straight year as a Fit Friendly Workplace by the American Heart Association. Math Supervisor Deborah Bliss introduced Kimberly Leong as the winner of the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching. LCPS Superintendent Edgar B. Hatrick III presented School Board members with the Virginia School Boards Association Academy Awards.
Loudoun Education Association President Sandy Sullivan expressed her willingness to work with the superintendent and School Board in successfully formulating an FY2011 budget. Michele Rzewski Copeland, president of the Loudoun Educational Media Association, spoke in favor of maintaining LCPS library services.

Pupil Services – Special Education Advisory Committee Chairperson Deana Czaban presented that organization's 2008-2009 Annual Report.
Department of Instruction – Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Sharon D. Ackerman presented the recommendations for grade weighting at the Loudoun Academy of Science. She also presented School Board policy revisions §8-8, Pregnant Students and §8-11, Home Instruction.
Planning and Legislative Services – Director of Planning and Legislative Services Dr. Sam Adamo presented the 2009-2010 Enrollment Report and the 2010-2011 Enrollment Projection. As of September 30, 2009, LCPS had 60,096 students. The projection for September 30, 2010, is 63,353.
Business and Financial Services – Assistant Superintendent for Business and Financial Services E. Leigh Burden said the in-state, out-of-county tuition rate for 2009-2010 is $9,855. The out-of-state tuition rate is $13,437.
Deputy Superintendent – Deputy Superintendent Ned D. Waterhouse presented School Board Policy §2-34, Student Discipline, Petition for Court Review.
Personnel Services – Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Services Dr. Mary Ann Hardebeck presented revisions to School Board Policy §7-5, Work Day.
Support Services – Assistant Superintendent for Support Services Jeff Platenberg and Director of Transportation Al Hampton presented School Board policy revisions Chapter 6, Article II, Transportation: §6-6, Bus Transportation, Authorized; §6-8, Bus Loading; §6-14, Vehicle Operators (excludes bus drivers); §6-19, School Bus Scheduling and Routing; §6-24, Student Discipline on Buses; §6-26, Student Safety; and Article III, Community Use of Facilities: §6-28, Eligibility of Organizations and Activities and Chapter 7, Article II, Employment: §7-14, Physical Examination and DMV Records Required of Bus Drivers.
DELEGATIONS
David Godman spoke in favor of grade weighting at the Academy of Science. Michele Rosa spoke about food allergy management. Greg Kelly spoke about boundary concerns. Sandy Sullivan offered support for proposed School Board Policy §7-5 Work Day.
