RECOGNITIONS
Twenty-four Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) facilities have been awarded the ENERGY STAR award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). LCPS earned 25 out of the 46 Energy Star Awards for schools in Virginia. Energy education specialists John Lord and Michael Barancewicz introduced the Energy Star recipients, including Arcola Elementary, Ball's Bluff Elementary, Belmont Station Elementary, Countryside Elementary, Douglass Support Facility, Emerick Elementary, Forest Grove Elementary, Freedom High School, Hillside Elementary, Hutchison Farm Elementary, Leesburg Elementary, Legacy Elementary, Little River Elementary, Lovettsville Elementary, Meadowland Elementary, Middleburg Elementary, Mill Run Elementary, Newton-Lee Elementary, Pinebrook Elementary, Potowmack Elementary, Frances Hazel Reid Elementary, Sanders Corner Elementary, Seldens Landing Elementary, and Sycolin Creek Elementary. 
 
Chuck Heazal presented the 2009 Malone Foundation Student Award recipients. Construction Change Orders; Construction Status Report; Deed of Easement Between the Loudoun County School Board and Washington Gas Light Company – ES-20 Property; Deed of Easement Between Loudoun County School Board, the Town of Leesburg, Virginia and the Virginia Regional Transit Authority – North Street Property; School Board Policy Revisions – §8-8, Pregnant Students and §8-11, Home Instruction; and IFB #238, Custodial Supplies and licensed and classified personnel actions.

...acquiring 97.27 acres for the construction of HS-7 and a future elementary school.
...acquiring real estate to comply with the terms of the Woodgrove High School special exception.
...a 2010-2011 Enrollment Projection of 63,353, an increase of 5.4 percent.

INFORMATION ITEMS
Planning and Legislative Services – Director of Planning and Legislative Services Dr. Sam Adamo presented the 2010 School Board Legislative Program. A committee recommended the name Buffalo Trail for the new elementary school (ES-20) to be located in the Seven Hills Development. Alternate names are Broad Ridge Elementary and Conklin Ridge Elementary. A committee recommended the name J. Michael Lunsford Middle School for the new middle school (MS-5). The alternate names are Eric J. Olsen Middle School and Justice Middle School.

Pupil Services/Support Services – School Board member Jennifer Bergel presented School Board Policy Revisions §3-4, Wellness and §7-15, Drug and Alcohol Testing for Employees Required to Hold a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

School Board Chairman – School Board Chairman Robert F. DuPree discussed budget priorities for guidance to the Superintendent.

Superintendent – Superintendent Edgar B. Hatrick III provided an update on H1N1 measures being taken by LCPS and school attendance.

DELEGATIONS
Scott Toulsey spoke about budget concerns. Priscilla Martinez about proposed changes to home school policies. Maureen Kane and Sandy Sullivan spoke about the need to define the teacher work day. Thanita Glancex expressed concerns about allergy management in Loudoun County Public Schools.
