Minutes; Construction Status Report; Construction Change Orders; Deed of Easement Between Nancy R. Moorcones, The Board of Supervisors of Loudoun County and the Loudoun County School Board; Boundary Line Vacation – Frederick Douglass Elementary School Site; Boundary Line Adjustment – HS-7 Property; Deed of Easement Between the Loudoun County School Board, the Board of Supervisors of Loudoun County and the Loudoun County Sanitation Authority – HS-7 Property; Kindergarten Non-Enrollment for the 2010-2011 School Year; RFP #071, Self-Insured Workers' Compensation Program Excess Liability Insurance and Third Party Administration of Claims, Renewal; IFB #277, Audio/Visual Equipment and Supplies for Ongoing Needs; and licensed and classified personnel actions, including the following retirement:

Arlene Glaser, as principal of Countryside Elementary, effective June 30, 2011. Mrs. Glaser holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Connecticut and a master's degree in education leadership from George Mason University. She has served as an elementary school teacher in Public School 108 in New York; as a kindergarten teacher at Merrick Woods, N.Y., Country Day School; as a fifth grade teacher at Yeshiva Toras Cham in Hewlitt, N.Y.; a fourth grade teacher in Public School 219 in Brooklyn; as a pre-school teacher at the Jewish Community Center in Nashville, Tenn.; as a kindergarten teacher at Head Middle School in Nashville, Tenn.; as a kindergarten teacher at Arcola Elementary; as a fourth grade teacher and assistant principal at Algonkian Elementary; as principal of Sterling Elementary; and as principal of Countryside Elementary.

… referring proposed School Board Policy §5-20, Films and Movies, to the Curriculum Committee.
… requesting the Virginia School Boards Association to submit an Amicus Brief to the Supreme Court of Virginia in a pending case.

INFORMATION

Business and Financial Services – Assistant Superintendent for Business and Financial Services E. Leigh Burden presented the highlights of the FY 2011 Washington Area Boards of Education (WABE) guide.
Personnel Services – Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Services Dr. Mary Ann Hardebeck and Director of Staffing and Recruiting Larry Hopson presented a hiring update for the 2010-2011 school year. 1,148 people were hired for the 2010-2011 school year by Loudoun County Public Schools.
Board Member Initiative – School Board member Bob Ohneiser, Broad Run District, requested information on the efficiency of the LCPS bus fleet. This report was presented by Assistant Superintendent for Support Services Jeff Platenberg.
Deputy Superintendent – School Board member Dr. Joseph Guzman, Sugarland Run District, and Deputy Superintendent Ned Waterhouse discussed proposed School Board Policy §5-20, Films and Movies, and policy revision §8-10, Comments and Complaints.
