School Board Chairman John Stevens honored School Board Clerk Christine Coleman as part of School Board Clerk Appreciation Week. Nine Loudoun County schools received the 2010 Governor's Award for Educational Excellence. Only 153 Virginia schools received this award. Representing these schools were Ashburn Elementary Principal Michelle Walthour and student Zach Mekouar; Belmont Ridge Middle School Principal Timothy Flynn and students Rianna and Attiya Shah; Belmont Station Elementary Assistant Principal Lori Mercer and student Ally Goodnight; Eagle Ridge Middle School Principal Bridget Beichler and student Michael Hickey; Lincoln Elementary Principal Albert Johnson and student Danielle McAlister; Lowes Island Elementary Principal Bruce Shafferman and student Jason Kelly; Pinebrook Elementary Principal Dawn Haddock and student Jeevna Prakash; Sanders Corner Elementary Principal Kathy Hwang and student Alex Broaddus; and Waterford Elementary Principal Patricia Lynn and student Thomas White. LCPS Supervisor of Student Support Services Betsy Young presented the proclamation for National Professional Social Work Month. Eleven students from Sycolin Creek Elementary were honored for the publication of their book “Greatest Homework Excuse Book Ever.” The authors were part of an after-school writers' group led by teacher Leigh Anne VanderWijst. These students are Sela Carrington, Samantha Carver, Roman Colon, Olivia Dinman, Melanie Faliskie, Kaitlyn Nguyen, Annie Norris, Emily Schechter, Maya Smith, Cameron Warter and Harrison Wise.

Licensed and classified personnel actions; RFP #09E, Architecture/Engineering Services for Miscellaneous Projects, Renewal; Construction Change Order; Construction Status Report; and Deed of Easement Between the Loudoun County School Board and Verizon South, Inc. – J. Michael Lunsford Middle School Property.
...a spring 2010 Attendance Boundary Calendar for J. Michael Lunsford Middle School (MS-5) and HS-7.
...authorized purchase of land for ES-15; .55 acre of land adjacent to the Douglass Support Facility owned by Jafari Rose Garden, LLC in the amount of $998,800.
...a hiring process for hiring of the division counsel.
INFORMATION ITEMS
Planning and Legislative Services – Executive Director of Planning and Legislative Services Dr. Sam Adamo presented information regarding grandfathering certain rising fifth-graders for the 2010-2011 school year.
Personnel Services – Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Services Dr. Mary Ann Hardebeck presented School Board Policy Revision §7-7, School Calendar.
Business and Financial Services – Assistant Superintendent for Business and Financial Services E. Leigh Burden reviewed School Board Policy Revision §4-24, Methods of Procurement and presented a state budget update.
Superintendent – Superintendent Edgar B. Hatrick III discussed the merits of opening schools by cluster during inclement weather.
