School Board Summary November 29, 2022
The Loudoun County School Board held a meeting at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
Chair Jeff Morse (Dulles District), Vice Chair Ian Serotkin (Blue Ridge District), Atoosa Reaser (Algonkian District), Harris Mahedavi (Ashburn District), Tiffany Polifko (Broad Run District), John Beatty (Catoctin District), Erika Ogedegbe (Leesburg District) and Brenda Sheridan (Sterling District) attended the meeting at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court, Ashburn. Denise Corbo (At-Large) attended remotely.
WORK SESSION
School Board Operations: Chair Morse discussed committee assignments and School Board discussions with the auditor general.
FY24 Budget Update and School Board Prioritization II: Superintendent Dr. Scott Ziegler and Chief Financial Officer Sharon Willoughby discussed the outlook for the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget.
Department of Support Services: Chief Operations Officer Kevin L. Lewis and Director Division of Transportation Scott Davies provided a Student Transportation Operational Update.
Department of Business and Financial Services: Mrs. Willoughby provided a Fiscal Year 2023 First-Quarter Financial Review and COVID Funds Update.

The School Board Approved: Minutes; Personnel Actions; Department of Instruction: Contract Agreement Between Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology (TJHSST) for SY 2023-2024; and Department of Instruction: W. O. Robey Alternative Accreditation Plan.

… a Revenue Sharing Agreement Draft MOU. This agreement is now transmitted to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors for its consideration.

INFORMATION ITEMS
Department of Support Services: Director, Planning Services Beverly Tate presented an update to Eastern Loudoun, Ashburn and Central Loudoun Secondary School Attendance Zone Changes.
Discipline Committee: Director of School Administration Dr. Douglas Fulton outlined Policy 8260, Reporting of Student Conduct.
Finance and Operations Committee: Mrs. Willoughby detailed changes to Policy 4360, Small, Women-Owned, Minority-Owned, and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses.
Human Resources and Talent Development Committee: Chief Human Resources Officer Lisa Boland outlined Policy 7312, Performance Management for Employees. Ms. Boland also presented Policy 7314, Duties and Responsibilities of Teachers; Policy 7564, Dress Code for Staff; and Policy 7720, Leave Associated With Legal Proceedings.
STUDENT SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS
Ishaan Parikh, a senior at Briar Woods High School, and Jack Franks, a senior at Independence High School, were introduced as the student School Board members.
PLEDGE LEADERS
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by members of the Independence High School Class 5 State Golf Championship Golf Team. The Tigers, coached by Dave Larson, have won three titles in four years. Members of the team reciting the Pledge included Mason Shapiro, Neil Kulkarni, Mira Ramachandran, Kapil Ramachandran, Byron Millet, Keya Naik, Jake Davis, Sophia Meyer, Maira Sadiq, Julie Simanski and Cooper Woodring.
NATIONAL ANTHEM
The National Anthem was performed by the Willard Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Bryce Anderson. Members of the orchestra performing included Alexander Hartanto, Shaurya Jaiswal, Trinity Johnson, Jason Lin, Shree Nithya Mandadi, Jhanvi Reddy Kuchkulla, Alyssa Robinson, Maxwell St. Andre, Harini Sudhakar and Ellie Teegardin.
