Guilford Serves Gratitude

This event continued a Guilford Thanksgiving tradition of inviting the school community into the building for food and fellowship.

The evening began in the cafeteria with pies (apple, pecan, pumpkin, cherry and blueberry) donated by Reston Bible Church served to the public by members of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. Entertainment for the social portion of the evening was provided by World View, a musical group from Park View High School under the direction of Dr. Miroslav Loncar.

Principal Rolando Tillman guided community members to the gym, where there were arts and crafts for the students to complete and community resources for their adult family members. Loudoun County Public Schools’ School Nutrition Services and Facilities Services offered employment opportunities; Inova Care Clinic and Anthem Health Keepers shared healthcare information; the Loudoun County Department of Housing and Community Development provided housing information; Mobile Hope had community support items available; and the Academies of Loudoun showed Guilford students an opportunity for their future.

Guilford’s staff maintained their tradition of donating their time to stage the event. A designated drive-up area outside the school provided community members food for a Thanksgiving dinner.

The tradition of inviting the community to Guilford’s campus at Thanksgiving goes back more than a decade and was started by former Principal Dave Stewart.
